Datasets
The Health Data Platform curates data from the National Collections provided by Te Whatu Ora. We also link these to other datasets (e.g. clinical trials, cohort studies etc). The tiles below show examples of national collections and a link to detailed information about each dataset.
NMDS
The National Minimum Dataset (NMDS) provides hospital discharge information from public and private hospitals in New Zealand from 1997. To view this dataset in detail click on the link here
Pharmaceutical Collection

Mortality Collection (MORT)
A collection of causes of death for all deaths in New Zealand. Cause of death is classified according to WHO and ICD-10-AM guidelines. For more details click on the link here

NZ Cancer Registry (NZCR)
The New Zealand Cancer Registry provides data regarding cancer incidence and cancer mortality. For more details click here.

National Maternity Collection (MAT)
This collection provides demographic and clinical data from public maternal services. For more details click here .
National Enrolment Service (NES)
The NES provides information on enrolment in primary care and contributes to capitation based funding calculations. For more details click here.
General Medical Subsidy Collection
The General Medical Subsidy Collection provides payment data from patient visits from 2003. For more details click here .
National Non-Admitted Patient Collection (NNPAC)
This collection contains data on outpatient and non-admitted emergency department acitivity. For more details click here
Virtual Diabetes Registry (VDR)
The VDR identifies people within administrative data sets who have suspected diabetes based on the type of care they received in the past. For more details click here.
